Steve Angrisano

Q: Where do your ideas come from and how do you capture them in your lyrics?

A: My music does come out of prayer, and my own faith journey. I really like that saying; "Saints are just the sinners who fall down and get up." I don't write because I have it all figured out, I mostly write what I really need to hear!

It has to be said that, so many of my songs have come from conversations that my wife and I have had about our life and our faith. Some songs are inspired by my own kid's, some by my youth group kids. My wife knows that if I have an idea, I’m gonna sit down and write until it's done... which usually means I'm up the whole night and come out looking like I hadn't showered and shaved for a day... or two.

Q: The song "Go Make a Difference" has turned into a powerful musical torch for young people everywhere. What does that mean for you?

A: It's pretty cool to write a song that so many others have chosen to use often. I think the song just seems to resonate with young and old alike. I love being Catholic. We are called as Catholic's not just to talk about our faith but to LIVE IT OUT. That's been my challenge to myself, and to others wherever I go. It's the, "actions speak louder than words" song.

Q: When you are playing your guitar, and look up to see thousands worshiping to the music of Steve Angrisano, what does that do to you?

A: I can honestly say that it's definitely not about me... It's all for the Glory of God! It's an honor to be that vessel because it is God that is touching their hearts. It is amazing to see the Holy Spirit just change lives right in front of your face. I'm just a guy with a guitar. I do see it as a responsibility to lay down my own agenda, to pray and honor God’s call as best I possibly can. I usually call my wife before I do a keynote, or a concert. She always says to me, "Make sure you get out of God’s way, Steve!" I take that to heart.

Q: There is a new CD just on the horizon. Tell us a little bit about Welcome Home.

A: I am so excited about this album! The songs are contemporary, acoustic, liturgy friendly, and come from my heart. It is full blown production that still has that live acoustic/soulful sounds you hear in person. Honestly, when my wife and I heard it, we were jumping on the bed laughing and crying about how proud we are of it. As a songwriter, I think that this is the first album I've made that truly captures the essence of my music.
