Jackie François is familiar to many spiritandsong.com devotees as a host on The Commons video interview program. She’s also shared the stage with Matt Maher, Tom Booth and other artists at a variety of events over the past years. Her joy-filled debut proclaims Jesus the “King of our hearts” and “King of our lives.”

Produced by Tom Booth and Jeff Thomas, the collection features outstanding studio work by Joe Hand and Matt Pierson (bass) and Carl Herrgesell (Hammond organ). Jackie’s lead vocals are sensational. Blessed with a rich, resonant voice, she’s also got incredible range, hitting high and low with ease and control.

Hard-hitting rock track on chastity
Her songwriting skills shine in “For So Long.” This hard-hitting rock track features breathless, through-sung verses that verge on spoken-word or rap. Based on 1 Corinthians 6 and Romans 12, it’s a brilliant and powerful defense of chastity: “So glorify God in your body; it’s his cross we should bear.”

Title track features strong refrain, edgy guitars
The title track combines a strong refrain with surprisingly edgy guitars. Praising Christ for the “blood and tears” he shed for us, it closes with the prayer of the Good Thief. A rollicking, bluesy song with hints of gospel, “Joy” is a playful track that pinpoints Jesus as the source of pure joy.

Superb cover of a Tom Booth ballad
“Be Forgiven” is Jackie’s superb cover of the classic Tom Booth ballad. A fast-paced rock gem in praise of God’s holiness, “Holy Are You, Lord” is also a confession of need: “Here in your midst, I hunger and I thirst.” Featured on The Commons and in Never Too Young, “My Soul Rejoices” is a beautiful new contemporary take on Mary’s Magnificat.

Quirky pop song with ukulele and mandolin
“Old Fashioned Love Song” is an unexpected delight. Featuring ukulele and mandolin, this quirky pop track closes the album on a fun, lighthearted note. “Just like an old-fashioned love song,” Jackie sings, “I’ll tell the whole world of my love” for God.
